Creating
E-mail Campaigns to Promote Your Business
Creating a successful email campaign
is very tricky! Not because of the content of your
campaign but because of the delivery. People get very angry when
they suspect they are receiving unsolicited email.
Rule #1 - Never send a campaign from
your own computer! It will only get you suspended
from your ISP and may involve monetary damages in some
states.
Rule #2 - Do not put any contact
information, other than your own, in the campaign.
I once put the name of a customer's website in my
in my email, and he received many complaints because
of MY mail. Unhappy recipients of
my campaign would call my customers or send them harassing
email to try and create havoc.
Rule #3 - Always use a third party
to send your campaign to a opt-in or double opt-in
mailing list. Using opt-in lists reduces the chances
you will run into any problems with recipients the
of your mail.
Rule #4 - The better the list the
more expensive it is. If you select a targeted double
opt-in mailing list it will cost you 3-4 times the
price of a non-targeted opt-in list.
Creating your Campaign
You create an email campaign the same way you create
any web page with the following differences:
- All images must be absolute paths. No relative paths
allowed.

- Make sure any links you have on your campaign open
in a new window. (Otherwise they will open in the
viewers email program.)
- The campaign is built to resemble an ad similar
to a magazine ad instead of a website. Click
here to view an email campaign I created.
- The size of your HTML campaign should be 400 -
450 pixels wide and around 500 pixels tall although
this can be adjusted either way without affecting
your campaign.
