Linking Slices

Links can only be added to slices. Since slices represent the HTML output of your Fireworks MX® document.

To Add a Link to a Slice.

  1. Draw or select an existing slice in your document.
  2. At the bottom of the page in the PROPERTIES MANAGER you'll see a dialog box with 5 different fields.
  3. Leave the TYPE field at the default IMAGE.
  4. Select the type of image and compression you would like to use.
  5. In the LINK field type the address of the page you would like to link to.
  6. In the ALT field enter the text message you would like to to see when someone hovers over the image.
  7. Target is the where you select where window will open. The most common selections are _blank, which launches a new browser window, and _self which opens in the same window.
